ABTA
We are a Member of ABTA which means you have the benefit of ABTA’s assistance and Code of Conduct. Many of the travel arrangements that we sell are protected in case of the financial failure of the travel company. Please ask us about the protection that applies to your booking.
ABTA Protection Plan (APP)
Depending upon the suppliers utilised to fulfill your travel requirements, Broads Travel are able to offer additional protection against the failure of APP listed suppliers by offering you the opportunity to purchase supplementary cover. When taken, The ABTA protection scheme will provide re-imbursement up to a maximum of £2000 per traveler for the financial failure of any supplier who is registered to the ABTA Protection Plan (APP). Broads Travel will provide up to date details at the time of booking of companies whereby this option exists.
Please note, The APP indemnity is not a substitute for travel insurance for which most standard travel policies do not provide insolvency protection. (Any claim can only be for the failure of the unbonded listed supplier and does not provide recompense for any consequential loss resulting from the failure to travel as originally planned).
Please contact your Broads Travel Consultant for further information or to initiate the supplementary cover.
Scheduled Flights
Please note that there is no consumer protection in the event of financial failure of a scheduled airline whether the airline is a traditional IATA airline or Low Cost Carrier.
It is only when a flight is purchased as part of a package that it is covered by ATOL, a consumer protection bonded scheme, set up to protect consumers in the event of their tour operator ceasing to trade.
Please see www.atol.org.uk
Consumer Credit Act
It may be possible to receive some protection under the Consumer Credit Act through utilisation of a credit card when utilised for payment directly through the airline and not on a debit or charge card. In these instances, the card must be debited directly by the airline/supplier.
